  1. President Muhammadu Buhari will today (Wednesday) sign the 2018 Appropriation Bill into law. A statement signed by Femi Adesina said Buhari will sign the budget by “noon (12 pm)” on Wednesday. The statement also disclosed that the Wednesday’s FEC meeting will not hold due to the just concluded Sallah break.

  2. There was massive turnout Tuesday at the campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress for Ekiti governorship election. APC will be represented at the governorship elections on July 14 by Kayode Fayemi.The campaign had in attendance, the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Bola Tinubu, and John Oyegun, the party’s national Chairman. It held at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

  3. The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has warned the Buhari Government against implementation of a directive on alleged recruitment of repentant Boko Haram members. CAN said it had information that a number of ex-terrorists were allegedly being considered for recruitment into the Nigeria Police and Nigerian Army. Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, Special Assistant on media to CAN President, Rev Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, raised the alarm in a statement on Tuesday.

  4. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Tuesday insisted that members of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore were responsible for the violent attacks on the state and killing of hundreds of innocent people. The governor said that despite the distractions, the state won’t abolish the anti-open grazing law. Ortom made these comment Tuesday morning when he addressed the Media on the National Livestock Transformation Plan in Abuja.

  5. Iceland assistant coach, Helgi Kolviðsson has noted that the game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be difficult. Kolviðsson, however, said his team was capable of securing a win against Nigeria in Friday’s Group D second match at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The campaign organisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ekiti election, Kayode Fayemi, has reacted to reports that the former Minister’s convoy allegedly killed a police officer in Ado-Ekiti. Wole Olujobi, Director, Media and Publicity, in a statement Tuesday night said there was no iota of truth in the claim.

  7. Egypt has been eliminated from the 2018 World Cup following their 3-1 defeat to hosts Russia on Tuesday night. The North Africans came into their second group game following a 1-0 loss to Uruguay.

  8. No fewer than two persons died Tuesday night when a truck laden with boards and plywood fell on the Ojuelegba Bridge, Surulere, Lagos State. The accident occurred around 8.p.m. The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr Adesina Tiamiyu, confirmed the news, saying remnants of the plywood were being cleared to ease vehicular movement in the area.

  9. England’s Old Bailey central criminal court in London on Tuesday heard how an extremist plotted a suicide attack on British Prime Minister, Theresa May. Naa’imur Zakariyah Rahman, 20, allegedly wanted to make “big news” by storming Downing Street as May spoke outside her office. Rahman, who said he was fully prepared to die in the attack, was arrested in November last year.

  10. Striking employees of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Tuesday staged a protest at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja over poor conditions of service and “redundancy”. Justin Uwazuruonye, Chairman, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), NEMA Unit, on behalf of the staff, called on the Buhari Government to investigate the matter.
